GUADALHORCE

Facilities:

27 holes, Driving Range, Clubhouse, Tennis courts, Golf Lessons.

Course info:

PAR: 72 LENGTH: 5,860 metres

Buggy needed? (in our opinion): No

Sunshine Golf Pro says: "Well worth a visit but watch out for low flying planes"

How to get there:

You need to get onto the A15/A7/AP7 heading towards Torremolinos/Malaga.

At Torremolinos the road splits in two (junction km225) – you need to be in one of the left hand lanes and follow the signs for Malaga/Cartama (the signs also say Seville, Cordoba, Almeria).  You are then on a 4 lane highway.  Go through Tunel De Churriana.

Stay on this road until you get to junction km232 which is A357 signposted Malaga (Oeste) & Cartama.

Stay left and follow signs for A357 Cartama the road goes up and round, stay left until you get to exit 62 - A7054 Campanillas.  Take this exit – you will see big derelict house up on the hill.

At the T junction go right there is a signpost for Campo De Golf.

At the roundabout take 1st Exit which is signposted Antiguo Camino De Cartama and Campo de Golf.  You then just stay on this road for about 2kms – past big warehouses and then you get to a part where you have the railway line running alongside the road to your left – keep going.  You go under the railway line and a little way after that the road goes from a proper road to more of a tarmac track with no road markings.  Just keep going and the golf course appears on your left hand side – entrance is ahead with a STOP barrier.  You need to drive right up to the barrier to get it to lift!

Guadalhorce in a larger map

Inaugurated in 1990 and only 7 kms from Malaga airport this course can be a little difficult to find but is well worth the drive. A truly Spanish style club the front nine is a little like an English parkland course but with tropical vegetation. The back nine are a little more hilly with elevated greens and water hazards. Guadalhorce is very popular with the visiting and resident golfer.
